Mukothima Health Center

Mukothima was one of the first remote villages that the Sisters initially reached with the “mobile Clinic”; however, in 1995, having ascertained the distance and the need to reach other villages scattered throughout the vast territory, they began a presence with a stable Dispensary currently transformed into a Health Center.

Mukothima Mission

In Tharaka, as in most of the most remote districts of Kenya, the health centre is not limited to providing care to the sick, but becomes a real reference center for the population. In the context of villages scattered throughout the territory it is often impossible for the population to go to the dispensaries to be treated, especially if the pathologies are underestimated. For this reason, they are the Dispensaries who go “towards” the patients; the “mobile clinics” regularly visit the villages, visiting patients and providing – more importantly – basic health education for families.

Mukothima was one of the first remote villages that the Sisters initially reached with the “mobile Clinic”; however, in 1995, having ascertained the distance and the need to reach other villages scattered throughout the vast territory, they began a presence with a stable Dispensary currently transformed into a Health Center.
