Jubilee in Kenya with the Major Superiors
The whole Little House in the world is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the return of the Cottolengo Family to Africa, starting from March 11, 1972.
The theme of the celebrations held in Kenya from 11 to 15 March 2022 is “In the light of Caritas Christi urget nos! A journey of gratitude and prophecy“, enriched by the presence of the Major Superiors of the Cottolengo Family, Father Carmine Arice, Mother Elda Pezzuto and Brother Giuseppe Visconti.
With the arrival of the Cottolengo religious, on Friday 11 March, at the Tuuru Mission (Diocese of Meru), the jubilee opened on Saturday 12 March at 10.30 am with the Mass of thanksgiving presided over by His Grace Mons. Salesius Mugambi, the Bishop of Meru. At the end of the Eucharistic celebration, the icon which will accompany the Relic of St. Joseph Benedetto Cottolengo was blessed. Rev Deacon Stephen Githua gave a brief exposition of the colourful icon. A photographic exhibition on the history of the Cottolengo presence in Africa was then inaugurated.
On Sunday, March 13, the Cottolengo Family was on a pilgrimage to Tuthu, in Nyeri Diocese, where there is the tomb of Sr. Giordana. A Mass was celebrated with the parish community of Tuthu, remembering here the service of that the Venerable Servant of God Sister Maria Carola Cecchin (1877-1925) lived, who will be proclaimed blessed on November 5 in Meru in Kenya.

On Monday, March 14, a Conference on the Cottolengo presence in Africa was held, with key interventions from the Major Superiors.
